Broadbridge Heath 2017
Collaboration with Butterfield Construction ltd, Symes Tree Surgery & Timber Yard
A change of career prompted this client to add a Scandinavian office room to an already packed, busy narrow garden, with many little pathways between several garden rooms, with many changes in level and a variety of surface materials. Five separate doors and destinations needed to be logically connected on a level, blending circular and rectangular hard standings and steps.
The design challenge was to keep the garden multifunctional, with defined private spaces. A new direct, route through the garden to the Therapy Room was needed. It was important to also provide a calm, nurturing space to relax.
I designed the Family Group sculpture using salvaged roof beams from a local timber yard to form a screen, and allow tactile plants to further enhance a sense of well-being.
