Retirement garden for new pup

The imminent arrival of a puppy to this coastal household was set to take its toll on their struggling lawn! The client wanted to reduce the amount of time, money and effort needed to keep this garden usable year round. Health considerations also underlined the need to keep heavy tasks to a minimum.

The obvious choice was to get rid of the lawn altogether, and create a path from the house direct to the sun trap at the far end.

The challenge was to ensure that this new pathway flowed in a way that appeared natural, and that the scheme complemented the planting that was already established. It was also important that the view from the far seating towards the house was attractive, and that the whole family could find special places to sit.
